It is mdStrategies intent to offer 2 CEUs per webinar. Because the approval process doesn’t always take place until shortly before the live webinar, therefore, you may want to confirm that the webinar has been approved shortly before the live event. Approximately 72 hours prior to each webinar, an information handout will be available for download. There will be an opportunity at the end of each session to ask the speaker questions and to send in any question that did not get answered during the call.

ANATOMY OF CODING SERIES

mdStrategies understands that daily questions can arise when abstracting critical information from an operative or procedural note. We have tailored the ambulatory surgery center (ASC) specific facility coding topics to those hard issues. We concentrate on providing coding tips and guidelines that you can use every day.

ICD-10 SERIES

On October 1, 2013, the United States Department of Health and Human Services has mandated the current ICD-9 code sets be replaced by ICD-10 code sets. This implementation will dramatically change the way coding is done. mdStrategies will instruct you on the foundations of ICD-10, differences between ICD-9 and ICD-10, and how these changes will affect Ambulatory Surgery Centers.

October 26 Establishing the Basics – The best way to learn any new topic is to start at the beginning and that’s what we will do with Establishing the Basics.  ICD-10 diagnosis codes are alpha/numeric containing both numbers and letters and can be up to 7 characters long.  Learn what the different position of each character means along with the pertinent guidelines for code/character selections.
December 6 Understanding ICD-10 Anatomy and Pathophysiology – You may have heard that ICD-10 diagnosis codes are more specific.  Take fractures for instance, do you know the difference between Salter-Harris I-IV types of fractures?  When a coder is able to identify anatomical locations and different diseases by name it will assist in the code selection process and ensure greater coding accuracy.  This Webinar is designed to review portions of the anatomy and the associated injuries/diseases commonly treated in the ASC setting.
January 24 Practical Use of ICD-10 Orthopeadic and Spine – This webinar will build upon what you learned in Parts 1 and 2 and apply that knowledge to orthopeadic and spine diagnosis coding.  The analysis of these specialties will be more in depth giving the coder an added edge in ICD-10 training.
February 21 Practical Use of ICD-10 Pain Management, GI, Ophthalmology, and Urology - This webinar will build upon what you learned in Parts 1 and 2 and apply that knowledge to diagnosis coding in specialty specific training. The analysis of these specialties will be more in depth giving the coder an added edge in ICD-10 coding.
